PRAIRIE ALUMROOT (Heuchera richardsonii) *
bloom May-Jul | height 2’ | full to part-sun
Heuchera is great planted among short sedges or as an understory plant among taller species. The structural foliage grows from the base of the plant so it wont shade out its neighbors; the flower is presented atop a 2-3' stem. The small tubular flowers are visited by long-tongued bees (bumblebees) and hummingbirds.
Plants that grow well with Heuchera: Sporobolus heterolepis (prairie dropseed), Bouteloua gracilis (blue grama), Sisyrinchium campestre (prairie blue-eyed grass)
Suitable for wet areas.
