North Branch Natives
Drymocallis arguta (PRAIRIE CINQUEFOIL)
bloom Jun-Sep | height 2’ | full to part-sun
Leaf texture and color are wonderful with this plant —not to mention the sweet little strawberry-like flower that presents atop a tall stem and provide for many small bees. Mix it in with a finer textured sedge or equal statured tall stemmed plants for a beautiful flower display.
This species is native to Cook County, and can stand up to dry soil —making it a perfect Pollinator Parkway plant.
Plants that grow well with Drymocallis: Carex spp. (sedges), Verbena stricta (hoary vervain), Koeleria macrantha (June grass)
