Cephalanthus occidentalis (BUTTONBUSH) SM *

Pollinator hot-spot, this tall shrub is perfect for the bottom of a large rain garden (it likes moist soil). The foliage is a beautiful texture and color and its flowers stick around most of the summer. If you have the room, this is a great addition. 

Buttonbush doesn't like dry conditions, so this one is best for that wet corner of the landscape or within a raingarden.

Plants that grow well with buttonbush: Zizia aurea (golden alexanders), Schizachyrium scoparium (little bluestem), Symphyotrichum oolentangiense (sky blue aster)
