North Branch Natives

Carex blanda (COMMON WOOD SEDGE)

bloom May | height 1' | full-sun to shade
Carex blanda (like many sedges) is incredibly versatile —easily going from full sun to full shade. As you may know, sedges are cool season; they green up early and stay bright through fall. This short statured mounding Carex has broader foliage and offers a nice textural contrast if planting a matrix of grasses and sedges.

Plants that go well with COMMON WOOD SEDGE: Anemone virginiana (tall thimbleweed), Penstemon spp. (foxglove), Polemonium reptans (jacob's ladder)
